France has repeatedly demonstrated its intentions to escalate tensions in the South Caucasus, the Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova said during today's briefing, Report informs.
According to her, official Paris is interested in maintaining tension in the South Caucasus to achieve its own geopolitical goals.
"We [official Moscow] absolutely have no illusions about Paris's assurances of supposedly good intentions in the South Caucasus. We have repeatedly witnessed attempts by the Elysee Palace to impose mediation efforts at the cost of aggravating the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. We are absolutely well aware of the true goals of the European Union in Armenia. They are absolutely not related to the tasks of facilitating the normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan," she noted.
