Ukraine in talks over supply of modern German tanks Panther

Ukraine is negotiating with the German concern Rheinmetall on the supply of modern Panther tanks, Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger said in an interview with Handelsblatt, Report informs.

Papperger also added that Ukraine is interested in the new Lynx infantry fighting vehicles.

Last summer, Rheinmetall introduced the Panther at an exhibition in Paris. Then it was called the most powerful battle tank in the world. Ukraine may become the first country to acquire this tank.

So far, Rheinmetall has a Panther demonstrator, he said. The assembly of tanks can begin in Germany or Hungary, and direct deliveries can be expected in 15-18 months.
