The Turkish police and gendarmerie conducted mass raids in 40 provinces of the country, and about 200 people suspected of participating in the activities of the ISIS terrorist group and the PKK were detained, Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said, Report informs.
“In six provinces of the country, operations against the ISIS terrorist organization were carried out by the police forces with the coordinated actions of the employees of the intelligence and counter-terrorism department of the General Directorate of Security. 38 suspects were detained in the provinces of Adana, Aydın, Corum, Gaziantep, Kayseri, and Mersin. A large amount of digital material, foreign currency, and a large amount of Turkish lira were confiscated,” Yerlikaya said on X.
Raids against the PKK were conducted in 34 provinces, including Ankara, Antalya, Izmir, and Istanbul, as well as in many regions in the east and southeast of Türkiye. “The operations were carried out in coordination between the General Prosecutor's Office, the Gendarmerie General Department, and the General Security Directorate. 147 people suspected of helping the PKK terrorist organization or working as part of it were detained,” he added.
Some of those detained are suspected of illegally crossing the Turkish border in 2022 and providing assistance to PKK members.
