Turkish VP: We’ll support Azerbaijan just like they supported us in difficult times

Türkiye will continue to support Azerbaijan, which has always stood by it during the difficult days of the earthquake that occurred in Türkiye on February 6, 2023, and during the process of the country's liberation from terrorism, under all circumstances, with the same unity of heart, stated Cevdet Yilmaz, Vice President of Türkiye, according to Report.

Yilmaz shared this insight at the 28 May – Independence Day of Azerbaijan Republic Independence Day Program held at the Bestepe Congress and Cultural Center.

He noted that the unshakable brotherhood between Azerbaijan and Türkiye will continue to stand together like the two flags waving side by side.

The vice president emphasized that Azerbaijan's Independence Day is a common pride of the Turkic world: "There are unshakable bonds of brotherhood between Türkiye and Azerbaijan, and this will continue."

Stating that the direction set by the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev, and the resolute leadership of President Ilham Aliyev brought the country an influential and respected position in the region, Cevdet Yilmaz said: "The sincere relationship between our President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Azerbaijan's head of state, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, has deepened the high-level dialogue and strategic partnership between our countries. They elevated our cooperation to the level of alliance with the Declaration signed on June 15, 2021, in Shusha, the pearl of liberated Karabakh. The concept of 'Two states, one nation' is strengthening day by day with institutional collaborations."

Expressing that they are implementing a wide range of action plans through the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, co-chaired by Azerbaijan's Prime Minister Ali Asadov, Cevdet Yilmaz noted that the 11th meeting was held last year: "In 2024, our total trade volume reached approximately 8 billion dollars. We are moving forward with determined and planned steps toward our goal of reaching a bilateral trade volume of $15 billion."
