Turkish President's Spokesman: Agreement on grain corridor may end war in Ukraine

"Grain agreement actually may lay the foundations for the kind of trust that we are talking about earlier -- that may lead to the resumption of the cease-fire talks, prisoners exchange, perhaps eventually to a peace agreement," Ibrahim Kalin, the spokesman of the President of Turkiye, said in an interview with CNN, Report informs.

Turkiye, the UN, Russia and Ukraine signed a deal on Friday to reopen three Ukrainian ports -- Odesa, Chernomorsk, and Yuzhny -- for grain stuck for months due to the Russia-Ukraine war, which has now entered its sixth month.

"They (Russia) made some conflicting reports and statements at the beginning. That is true. When we received the news of the attack, we immediately contacted them. … our Defense Minister spoke to Minister Shoygu, and he really did not get a complete detailed response or explanation," Kalin said.
