Turkish Interior Ministry announces detention of 400 members of organized criminal groups

Law enforcement agencies of Turkiye conducted a large-scale operation to detain persons involved in organized criminal groups (OCGs), Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said.

Report informs citing Anadolu that, according to the minister, as part of the operation Cylinder, in 50 provinces of the country, 400 of the 502 persons for whose detention a warrant was issued have already been taken into custody.

"We mean countering 18 organized crime groups," the minister explained.

Soylu noted that in general, since the beginning of the year, 2,703 persons involved in organized criminal groups have been detained throughout the country. The activities of 66 organized crime groups have been thwarted.
