Turkish FM: Actors concerned by Syria’s normalization process engaging in provocations

Certain regional actors disturbed by the normalization process in Syria are resorting to provocations, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated during a joint press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani, Report informs.

“There are challenges and claims at play here. Our responsibility is to analyze the situation and work toward resolving the problems,” he added.

The Turkish Foreign Minister noted that cooperation between the two countries continues in several areas:

“We are exchanging views with the US, Europe, and regional countries in this regard. We supported the meetings held in Amman following the events in Sweida. The steps taken by some countries affect not only the nations they occupy but the entire region—they must take this into account. Türkiye supports the Syrian government’s efforts to serve its people and protect its territorial integrity.”
