Turkish economist: Middle Corridor is stable, safe trade route for OTS countries

The Middle Corridor (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route) is a stable and safe trade route for the OTS countries, Turkish economist Engin Ozer told Report, while commenting on the establishment of the Turkish Investment Fund and its role in the development of the Middle Corridor.

According to him, the development of the Middle Corridor will help accelerate the flow of investments, and strengthen cooperation between the countries of the Turkic world, and Azerbaijan plays an important role in this regard: “The advantages of establishing the Turkish Investment Fund are that the countries that took the initiative to establish it are in the same region and have no problems with each other. The fund can support the acceleration and promotion of the implementation of infrastructure projects, especially projects related to the Baku International Sea Trade Port.”

The expert emphasized that there are no obvious problems or threats that could negatively affect the efficient operation of the fund.

He noted that although there is no clear idea of which areas the Turkish Investment Fund will pay more attention to, the Zangazur corridor and its development may be the focus of this fund: “Because the products of the Central Asian countries will be delivered to the European Union markets faster through this corridor.”

Ozer added that the Turkish Investment Fund will help the development of regional trade, small and medium enterprises, supply chain, agriculture, green energy, and tourism.
