Tehran says ready for negotiations with US on nuke deal

Iran is keeping diplomatic channels open for talks with the US on resuming the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and lifting sanctions against Tehran, Iranian Foreign Ministry representative Nasser Kanani said, Report informs referring to Interfax.

He added that indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington have already taken place, and promised to disclose details when necessary, EFE reported.

Kanani said Tehran is "in a good position for future negotiations" thanks to the foundation laid by former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, who died in May 2024.

“The elected government will build on these achievements, especially in negotiations on issues related to Iran’s nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions,” the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry emphasized.

The presidential elections in Iran were won by former member of the Iranian parliament Masoud Pezeshkian. He was the only reformist candidate. He advocates resuming the nuclear deal, saying Iran needs to establish dialogue with Western countries, and building Tehran's relations with Washington.
