Swedis PM: 'We are at the end of the beginning'

Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson gave a dark picture of today’s Sweden in the Christmas speech.

Report informs via Sweden Posts English that in the speech from Harpsund, Kristersson pointed, among other things, to gang crime, the increased terrorist threat, climate change, the school’s “knowledge race” in reading and mathematics, and interest rates and food prices that create stress.

He assured, however, that the government is on its way to turning the tide:

“It will take time. It will be difficult. But it will work, said Kristersson. During 2024, the paradigm shift will be implemented – area by area.”

Kristersson counted up a series of anti-crime changes due to come into force next year: curfews, visitation zones, and tougher penalties for weapons offenses. He also pointed out that steps are being taken to build new nuclear power, to change the migration policy, and that inflation is being fought.

To describe where the government is in its change work, he alluded to a formulation by Winston Churchill, British Prime Minister during the Second World War.

“My message is not at all that we are at the beginning of the end to get Sweden in order. But I am convinced that we are at the end of the beginning,” Kristersson stressed.
