The economies of the countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization, of which Azerbaijan is a member, are demonstrating sustainable rates of development, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the opening of the ECO summit, Report’s correspondent informs from Tashkent.
The head of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev for the successful chairmanship of the ECO [Azerbaijan is the chair country of the organization in 2023]. He noted that during his chairmanship, Baku came up with a number of significant initiatives and made a serious contribution to the activities of the organization.
“To improve economic cooperation between the participating countries, Uzbekistan proposes to adopt an agreement on simplifying trade within the ECO, which was developed by Uzbek experts,” said Mirziyoyev.
The head of Uzbekistan also noted that the launch of multimodal transport corridors meets the interests of all ECO member states.
“The member countries of our organization are inextricably linked by a common history, rich culture and similar values,” he added.
