Russian-planted mines kill over 120 in Ukraine

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, 124 people have died in mine explosions, including six children, Ruslan Beregulya, Head of the Environmental Safety and Mine Action Department of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, said on a telethon, Report informs.

"As of today, according to our data, 124 Ukrainians have died, including six children. 286 were injured, including 33 children," he said.

According to Beregulya, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions of Ukraine suffered the most from mines.

In total, about 174,000 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory, including sea areas, are considered to be potentially contaminated with explosive devices.

"The area of de-occupied territories, where the inspection is being carried out, is 45,000 square kilometers, of which 17,000 square kilometers are agricultural lands," he added.
