In the morning of December 11, the Russian army attacked several cities of Ukraine, including capital Kyiv, with ballistic missiles and drones.
The spokesman of the Kyiv Military Administration, Mikhail Shamanov, and Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat spoke to Report's Eastern Europe office about the results of the attack.
Shamanov said that, following the scenario of about a month ago, ballistic missiles were launched in the direction of the capital today: "On December 11, at 4 in the morning, Russia struck Ukraine again with ballistic missiles. Eight missiles flying towards the capital with a ballistic trajectory were destroyed by our Air Force. The remnants of the rockets fell in the Darnytskyi district of the capital, and as a result, four civilians were injured. A man born in 1992 received a shrapnel wound. He was given first aid, and 3 women experienced acute stress and were also given help. There was also a call about shrapnel falling in the Holosiivs'kyi district, but this was not confirmed. The call was wrong."
He also clarified the reasons why the air defense systems did not activate immediately during missile strikes: "This was explained earlier by the Ukrainian Air Force. The enemy launched ballistic missiles, and the Air Defense Forces have only a few minutes to react to it."
Yuriy Ihnat said that, in addition to Kyiv, Russia again struck other regions of Ukraine with Shahed 131/136 UAVs: "18 UAVs were launched from the occupied Crimea, but they were all destroyed by the Air Defense Forces. In the morning, the enemy carried out another terrorist attack; eight ballistic missiles were launched. These are the Iskander M and S-400 anti-aircraft missile complexes. They were sent from a long distance. The Air Defense Forces destroyed all 8 targets—both around and inside the city.”
He said that if there is information about a ground attack, the population will be notified immediately: "However, if either we or our partners do not know about it, we do not provide information. Such cases occur not only in the capital but also in the south or east of Ukraine - the enemy sends fast ballistic missiles, and there is only one minute to react to them. That's why you need to be careful."
Report’s correspondent visited residential areas affected by Russian airstrikes and prepared a photo reportage.
