Russia’s national debt grows almost 10%

In the first half of 2023, Russia’s public debt increased by 9.8% (by 2.3 trillion) to 25.1 trillion rubles (about $260 billion), Report informs referring to Izvestia newspaper.
According to the current budget law, the Russian Ministry of Finance predicts an increase in public debt to 25.4 trillion rubles by the end of the current year. Overall, the level of public debt rose to 16.7% of GDP.
The volume of domestic borrowings over the six months increased by 1.4 trillion rubles (+7.4%) and reached 20.2 trillion rubles - this is 97.4% of the upper limit set for this year (20.7 trillion rubles). At the same time, its share in the total debt structure decreased from 82.3 to 80.5%.
The amount of domestic debt in securities as of July increased from the beginning of the year by 1.4 trillion rubles and amounted to 19.5 trillion rubles.
