Russia assures Armenia of absence of discrimination in relation to cargo

Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) assured the Armenian side of the absence of any discrimination against cargo from any country, including from Armenia, when trucks pass through the Upper Lars checkpoint, the head of the food safety inspection body Armen Hayrapetyan said at a meeting with operators exporting phytosanitary controlled cargo, Report informs referring to Armenian media.
Hayrapetyan presented the details of his meeting with the head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert.
The Russian side assured that goods that pass documentary, physical and laboratory examination will be able to cross the Upper Lars checkpoint.
In turn, Hayrapetyan assured his colleagues that the inspection body will issue safety certificates for exported phytosanitary controlled cargo only after careful examination.
At the same time, exporters noted that after December 1, most of their cargo had already crossed the Georgian-Russian border without hindrance.
At the end of November, the Russian side announced that it had detected a large number of violations of phytosanitary safety in products from Armenia. If since the beginning of 2023, 72 attempts to import phytosanitarily unsafe products (flowers and fruits and vegetables) have been identified, half of all these violations, according to Rosselkhoznadzor, were recorded in just three days, from November 24 to 26.
