In connection with the 31st anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On pardoning a group of people serving their sentences, who sincerely repented of their deeds and have firmly taken the path of correction,” Report informs via Uzbek media.
“By decree, in accordance with paragraph 23 of Article 109 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, 334 persons serving sentences for committing crimes, who sincerely repented of their actions and firmly embarked on the path of correction were pardoned,” the press service of the president said.
Of those pardoned, 34 persons were completely released from serving their main sentence, 249 persons were released from serving their sentence on parole, and the punishment imposed on 6 persons was replaced by a more lenient one. In addition, the terms of imprisonment imposed on 45 persons were reduced.
Among those pardoned are 18 citizens of foreign countries, 23 women, 15 men over 60 years of age, and 88 persons who participated in the activities of prohibited organizations.
