The Kremlin would not like to get involved in a dispute with the US over nuclear threats, as everyone should be careful with nuclear rhetoric, Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on US President Donald Trump's statement to send two nuclear submarines closer to Russia in response to statements by Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, Report informs referring to Russian media.
"Russia is very attentive to the issue of nuclear non-proliferation, and we believe that everyone should be very careful with nuclear rhetoric," he said.
He noted that "American submarines are on combat duty anyway, this is an ongoing process."
In addition, in connection with the controversy on social networks between Trump and Medvedev, Peskov said that in matters of Russian foreign policy, it is necessary to focus on the statements of President Vladimir Putin.
"The main thing, of course, is the position of President Putin. In our country, foreign policy is formulated by the head of state - President Putin," Peskov said in response to a question about whether the Kremlin is going to advise Medvedev to tone down his statements on foreign policy.
The press secretary noted that in each country, members of the country's leadership have different points of view on current events. "There are people who are very, very tough-minded in the US and European countries, so this is always the case," Peskov emphasized.
