Pashinyan leaves ruling party meeting due to brawl

A member of Armenia's parliament from the ruling Civil Contract party, Hayk Sargsyan, and the governor of Tavush province, Hayk Ghalumyan, got into an altercation during a party meeting in the presence of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Report informs referring to Armenian media.

The conflict arose from Sargsyan's statement about illegal deforestation in the region. The MP accused the governor of creating a deadlock environmental situation in Tavush.

The verbal exchange, accompanied by insults, escalated into a physical confrontation.

The prime minister, who was observing the development of the conflict, left the meeting.

Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan attempted to intervene and calm down the participants of the clash, but tensions continued to rise, according to media reports.
