The current building codes in Armenia don’t always meet modern standards, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at a meeting with representatives of construction companies, Report informs referring to the Armenian media.
He pointed to frequent violations in the construction sector and problems in terms of quality.
“Initially, we planned to follow the path of raising standards, but this cannot be done in a day, otherwise all construction in the republic will be suspended,” Pashinyan said.
The Armenian prime minister noted that it takes 15 to 20 years to renovate the housing stock in the country.
