9 detained in Batumi amid protests against arrival of cruise ship with Russian tourists

Batumi police detained nine protesters on Monday night in the port as opposition representatives tried to break through the cordon and hold a rally against the arrival of a cruise ship with Russian tourists, Report informs via Georgian media.
"Despite numerous appeals from law enforcement officials, the rally participants did not obey the lawful demands, as a result of which nine people were detained," the country's Interior Ministry said.
The Astoria Grande liner with the Star Cruise arrived in Batumi on Monday morning. Earlier it was reported that during its voyage, Star Cruise will call at Batumi, Amasra and Istanbul.
