Moldovan-flagged tanker with Russian crew in distress in Black Sea

The Russian crew of a tanker flying the Moldovan flag is in distress in the Black Sea, Report informs referring to the Naval Agency of Moldova.

“The ship Millenial Spirit IMO No. 7392610 under the flag of Moldova while in the neutral waters of the Black Sea (46°22.221'N, 031°07.095'E) was hit by a projectile (from an unknown direction),” the report says.

A fire broke out onboard the ship, equipment and lifeboats were destroyed, the crew consisting of citizens of the Russian Federation left the ship in life jackets. At the moment, rescue work is being carried out by nearby ships.
