Lawyers for Samvel Karapetyan file appeal against his arrest

The legal team representing Armenian businessman Samvel Karapetyan has filed a cassation appeal challenging the court's decision to detain him.

According to Report, citing Armenian media, Karapetyan's attorney Aram Vardevanyan announced the move on his Facebook page.

In addition to the appeal, the defense has submitted requests to initiate disciplinary proceedings against Judges Artak Karapetyan and Armen Danielyan.

Samvel Karapetyan, owner of the Tashir Group, was arrested on June 18 for making public calls to seize power. Following his detention, authorities launched inspections into his business operations, leading to the closure of several "Tashir Pizza" restaurants in Yerevan and other regions. The Armenian government has also begun the process of nationalizing Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC, which is owned by Karapetyan.
