Klyuchevskoy volcano erupts, sends ash to 11 km high

On August 9, 2025, the Klyuchevskoy volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula, Russia, produced an ash plume reaching an altitude of 11,500 meters.

Report informs that, according to the regional office of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM), the ash cloud is drifting toward the Kamchatka Strait. The settlement of Ust-Kamchatsk, located along the path of the ash cloud, may experience volcanic ash fallout.

Authorities have urged residents of the area to remain indoors and avoid going outside.

On August 8, minor ash fallout was already recorded in Ust-Kamchatsk, with atmospheric ash levels remaining within permissible limits.
