Iran blames GPS disruptions on security concerns, possible drone presence

Iran’s communications minister said on Wednesday that disruptions to GPS signals and frequency spectrums across the country are linked to security concerns, including the possible presence of drones, Report informs via AL Arabiya.

Minister of Information and Communications Technology Sattar Hashemi said the disturbances have affected the quality of telecommunications and other related services.

“The disruptions observed in frequency spectrums and GPS signals are due to security considerations and the potential presence of drones,” Hashemi told reporters.

He acknowledged that the outages have impacted both communications and businesses dependent on these services.

“It is natural that such issues create problems in providing services to the public,” he said.

According to Hashemi, consultations and efforts are underway to address the problems gradually, with the aim of improving service quality for citizens.

The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions, with both Iran and Israel trading warnings of renewed confrontation following their 12-day war earlier this summer.
