Head of Azerbaijanis Congress: Georgia being forced to open second front with Russia

Some Western countries including the US are currently trying to pressure Georgia in various ways and force the country to open a second front with Russia, Huseyn Yusifov, the chairman of the Azerbaijanis Congress in Georgia (ACG), said in an interview with Report.

Yusifov noted that there are many forces that do not want stability in Georgia and in the region in general:

"The decisions, resolutions, and sanctions adopted by the European Parliament, the German Bundestag, and the US seriously concern us like everyone else. The European Parliament is trying to speak to Georgia in a commanding tone. This reminds us of the former USSR."

Yusifov emphasized that the current Georgian government is working to ensure that the upcoming parliamentary elections will be free, democratic, and transparent. According to him, holding free and democratic elections, as well as peace and stability in the country, is very important for Azerbaijanis living in Georgia.

"At that time, those sitting in the Kremlin dictated who would be elected and how we would live. We became independent because we didn't want to be under anyone's command. Now we will not submit to either the West or America. They are dragging us into war. We have seen what disasters war brings. Therefore, we should not allow our country to be drawn into war again. We should work for peace and stability. Western sanctions should not scare anyone," he said.
