Haber Global: Ilham Aliyev’s statement on Northern Cyprus was very strong

President Ilham Aliyev’s statement regarding Northern Cyprus has been described as a clear reflection of excellent relations, according to Report.

“President Ilham Aliyev stated at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum that Azerbaijan has always supported the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus,” Associate Professor Jihat Yayji from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Topkapi Istanbul University said on air of Haber Global TV channel.

He also commented on the recent meeting between Syria’s transitional president Ahmed al-Sharaa and the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus:

“Ahmed al-Sharaa declared that the only legitimate representative of Cyprus is the Southern (Greek) administration. If we claim that Türkiye has significant influence over al-Sharaa, then this meeting should have been prevented. And if prevention wasn’t possible, then arrangements should have been made for a visit to Syria by Tahsin Ertugruloglu, the Foreign Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus," he said.
