Grossi: Radiation levels outside Natanz facility remain normal

Radiation levels outside the Iranian nuclear facility in Natanz remain unchanged and within normal limits, indicating no external radiological impact on the population or environment, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said during an emergency session of the UN Security Council amid the escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, Report informs via TASS.

However, he noted that radiological and chemical contamination has been detected inside the facility. "There is a possibility that uranium isotopes present in uranium hexafluoride, uranyl fluoride, and hydrogen fluoride have spread within the site. The radiation—mainly alpha particles—poses a significant risk if inhaled or ingested, but this risk can be effectively managed with proper protective measures such as the use of respirators," he emphasized.
