Georgia appoints new minister of internal affairs

Gela Geladze has been appointed as the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced at a briefing on Wednesday, Report informs.
Gela Geladze has previously served as deputy chief of the State Security Service. He will replace Vakhtang Gomelauri, who resigned from this post.
This morning, Police Colonel General Vakhtang Gomelauri announced his resignation from the post of Minister of Internal Affairs.

Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri has announced his resignation, Report informs via the Georgian press.
"Of course, holding the highest government posts for so many years requires a lot of energy. Today, when the situation in the country is calm, I allowed myself and asked the team to leave the position so that they would give me the opportunity to devote more time to my family - my wife, children and newborn grandson," Gomelauri said in a statement.
