The issue of the return of Western Azerbaijanis to their ancestral lands can be resolved through the restoration of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, according to Fuat Oktay, the Chairman of the Turkish Parliament's Foreign Relations Committee, Fuat Oktay, said in an interview with Report's Ankara bureau within the framework of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Oktay emphasized that Türkiye desires normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the establishment of peace in the region. "We are tired of crises, wars, and conflicts. The Russia-Ukraine war needs to end, and the bloodshed in Gaza must stop. Türkiye sees the solution to all conflicts through diplomacy and advocates for the most feasible approaches to achieve this," he said.
He further stressed the importance of constitutional changes in Armenia for peace and stability in the South Caucasus and shared his thoughts on the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group.
"The Minsk Group holds the view that 'if the conflict ends, they will be out of work.' However, the problem is already solved; they should go and address issues elsewhere," Oktay added.
