Türkiye continues to maintain contacts with Russia and Ukraine, in particular on the issue of renewing the Black Sea grain corridor initiative, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a conversation with reporters while returning from Astana, Report informs.
He noted that from the first day he has been negotiating with the leaders of the two countries, Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Erdogan said that the main topic of contacts is the possibility of Turkish mediation in a peaceful settlement.
Erdogan stressed that this issue was also raised during negotiations with Putin in Astana.
“The Black Sea grain corridor was a good start. Thanks to this corridor, it was possible to supply about 30 million tons of grain. Türkiye will make efforts to resume the work of the grain corridor,” Erdogan said.
The Turkish leader added that the war is not beneficial for either Russia or Ukraine, and expressed hope that it will be possible to create the necessary basis for peace.
