Counterfeit alcohol claims 18 lives, poisons dozens in Iran's Gilan province

A tragic incident in Iran's Gilan province has resulted in the deaths of 18 people and the poisoning of 66 others due to counterfeit alcohol consumption, said Mohammad Taghi Ashubi, the rector of Guilan University of Medical Sciences, Report informs via Iranian media.
Ashubi confirmed that the affected individuals have been admitted to medical facilities in Rasht over the past few days.
He added that five suspects, believed to be connected to the distribution of the fake alcohol, have been arrested.
