Cavusoglu: Kilicdaroglu’s anti-Russian statements harm Türkiye

Populism in the rhetoric of some opposition politicians trying to please the West through anti-Russian statements is hurting Türkiye. The consequences of such statements are felt by farmers, the tourism sector and exporters, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in Antalya commenting on statements by opposition presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu about his readiness to support the restriction regime against Moscow, Report informs referring to Anadolu Agency.

The minister asked himself questions: “What benefit will sanctions against the Russian Federation bring to Türkiye and directly to the residents of Antalya? Do those who make anti-Russian promises think about tourism and exporters?”

“Sometimes people ask me: how does foreign policy affect ordinary citizens? There is a clear example,” Cavusoglu said.

He noted that due to anti-Russian statements by Kilicdaroglu, a decrease in the influx of tourists from Russia is already being recorded, some of which are postponing vacation plans in Türkiye for the period after the second round of elections.
