Court arrests son of head of Yekaterinburg's Azerbaijani diaspora for two months

The Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg has arrested Mutvali Shikhlinski - the son of the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora of the city - for two months, Report informs.
Shikhlinski is accused of using violence against a government official (Part 1, Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The court ordered the accused to be detained until September 14, 2025. The court's decision has not yet entered into force and can be appealed.

He is accused of hitting a special forces soldier during an arrest in a Mercedes-Benz G-Class (Gelandewagen).
The trial of Mutvala Shikhlinski has begun.

A criminal case has been opened against the son of the head of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia's Yekaterinburg and lawyer Mutvali Shikhlinski, said President of the Bar Association of the Sverdlovsk Region Igor Putintsev, Report informs referring to Russian media.
"The Bar Association confirmed the information that a criminal prosecution is being conducted against Mutvala Shikhlinski. The Bar Association is cooperating with the investigation," the agency's source said.
Putintsev didn't specify what article Shikhlinski may be charged with, adding that his organization is not a party to the criminal prosecution.
