Belarus border guards detain two citizens over attempt to launch drone into Lithuania

Belarusian border guards detained two citizens of the country who were trying to launch a drone into the territory of Lithuania, Report informs via TASS.

"On the night of August 18, border guards detained two citizens of Belarus in the village of Gorodishche, Voronovsky district [Grodno region]. The men intended to launch a drone across the Belarusian-Lithuanian border. An unmanned aerial vehicle, components for it, as well as radio communications equipment were found at the place of detention. An administrative process has been initiated against persons involved in illegal activities," the State Border Committee of Belarus said in a statement.

The Border Committee noted that this is the third incident on the border with Lithuania, associated with the illegal use of UAVs, since the beginning of August.

"It is forbidden to use or possess a drone in the border zone, as well as to leave it outside the settlements located in the border zone, without notifying the border service authorities," the State Border Commitee said, specifying that a fine is imposed for failure to comply with the rules.
