Azerbaijani businessman arrested in Russia’s Voronezh

A well-known Azerbaijani businessman and owner of the Alekseevsky market in Voronezh, Russia, Yusif Khalilov, has been arrested, Report informs via Russian media outlets.
Khalilov is accused of transferring 330,000 rubles (approximately $5,000) to a doctor in March 2025. Part of the amount was allegedly delivered through an intermediary, while 100,000 rubles ($1,242) were transferred directly to a bank card.
He was detained on August 16. He refused to testify and denied all charges. He is currently in custody and faces a potential sentence of 7 to 12 years in prison, along with deportation.
Khalilov was first detained on July 1. After initial investigative procedures, he was released, but subsequent developments led to his re-arrest.
