Armenian PM: Only resolution of Karabakh issue makes peace with Azerbaijan possible

Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that only the resolution of the Karabakh issue has made peace with Azerbaijan possible.

According to Report, Armenian leader made this statement at the live broadcast of the Armenian leader's address to the people.

"I had said that I would lead Armenia with the logic of not continuing the Karabakh conflict, and if the people disagree with this logic, let them revolt. But you didn't revolt because, like me, you also understood that without resolving the Karabakh issue, there would be no peace. Some forces have simply used the Karabakh issue as a tool to solve their own problems in Armenia," he said.

Pashinyan also touched on the issue of Armenians who voluntarily left Karabakh after Azerbaijan restored its sovereignty.

"As for our compatriots, I have repeatedly stated openly: I do not consider the idea of their possible return realistic. In general, this is a topic that only harms the peace established between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Attempts to bring it back to the agenda will give nothing to the displaced persons themselves but will create tension between the states. Therefore, I note: yes, this is a dangerous and harmful topic for peace," he said.

According to Pashinyan, all those who disagree with this line of thinking are consciously or unconsciously "pouring water into the dough" of forces interested in new conflicts.

"After all, many conflicts, including the Karabakh conflict, began with the discussion of seemingly humanitarian, cultural, or other 'innocent' issues. But we well remember what this led to, and unfortunately, we experienced it ourselves," he added.
