On January 24, the Armenian Parliament's Standing Committee on European Integration greenlit a draft law that paves the way for the country to begin the process of joining the European Union (EU), Report informs via Armenian media outlets.
Notably, members of the opposition faction Armenia abstained from the vote. The draft law will be discussed during the upcoming four-day session of the Armenian Parliament.
During the discussions, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Paruyr Hovhannisyan indicated that Armenia and the EU are negotiating a new cooperation agenda.
