Armenia and Iran will create a working group to build a second bridge over the Araz River, according to the Road Department Foundation, Report informs referring to Sputnik Armenia.
The issue was discussed between the director of the fund, Gor Avetisyan, and representatives of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of Iran.
The need to build a second bridge arose against the backdrop of an increase in the flow of freight and passenger traffic from Iran to Armenia and in the opposite direction, as well as the implementation of a project to lay a section of the Agarak-Kajaran road.
The work on the project to build a new bridge across the river began at the end of 2023. Yerevan did not rule out that a new bridge will be built parallel to the existing one.
