Ankara increases fees for crossing Turkish Straits

Turkiye has quintupled the fee for crossing the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles straits, setting it at $4 per tonnage, Report informs via the Sabah newspaper.

According to Sabah, the decision will enter into force on October 7, 2022. Thus, the current annual revenue of $40 million will rise to $200 million.

Under the Montreux Convention signed in 1936, official Ankara has the right to demand various fees from vessels passing through the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles.
