The Georgian government's decision to halt the country's EU membership process is regrettable, EU Ambassador to Georgia Pawel Herczynski said, Report informs.
According to Herczynski, the EU had granted Georgia candidate status, and yesterday's events clearly contradict the policy of Georgia's previous government, as well as the will of the majority of the Georgian people.
"Of course, Georgia is an independent, sovereign state. Georgia has the right to make their own decisions. Whether to continue European integration or not is up to them. In my opinion, this is very sad, very regrettable, and very disappointing," Pavel Herczynski emphasized.
