For the first time in a long while, discussions between representatives of Ukraine and Russia have begun to include signals about a possible meeting of the two leaders, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during a media briefing on July 24, Report informs, citing RBC-Ukraine.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukrainians need the war to end, which, in his view, should start with a meeting at the leadership level.
"There’s no other way with them. We need an agenda for such a meeting — a meeting at the level of leaders. The question is, we’ve always raised this issue publicly. And now they have started to talk about it in conversations with us. This is already a step toward some format of meeting," he explained.
Zelenskyy also noted that, in his opinion, much has been achieved "through certain steps on Russian territory, certain operations."
"Many things beyond negotiation processes, dialogue, and diplomacy have taken place on their territory. You’ve seen it," he added.
