Zelenskyy confirms readiness to meet with Putin for peace talks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has confirmed his readiness to hold talks with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to discuss the terms of a peace agreement, according to Report.

“We hear statements from Russia, and if this is a signal of their serious readiness to end the war with dignity and establish a truly lasting peace, and not just an attempt to buy more time for war and delay sanctions, then Ukraine once again confirms its readiness for a meeting at the leadership level at any time,”the Ukrainian leader said on Telegram.

According to him, Ukraine understands who makes decisions in Russia and who must end this war. “The whole world understands this as well. Ukraine proposes moving from exchanging statements and holding technical-level meetings to a dialogue between leaders. America has proposed this. Ukraine has supported it. Russia’s readiness is needed,” the president added.

The head of the Ukrainian state also noted that Kyiv supports the efforts of US President Donald Trump to end the war and achieve a fair and lasting peace.

It should be noted that earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that it is possible to discuss Kyiv’s idea of considering the security of Russia and Ukraine in the context of pan-European security. In addition, Putin said it is necessary to establish a lasting and strong peace on grounds acceptable to both Russia and Ukraine. “We need a lasting and strong peace on solid foundations that would satisfy both Russia and Ukraine and ensure the security of both countries,” Putin emphasized.
