Zelensky comments on first round of Ukraine-Russia talks

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has commented on the first round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, Report informs referring to UNIAN.

“Today [on February 28], at the initiative of the Russian side, the first round of negotiations between Ukraine and Russia took place. These negotiations took place against the backdrop of bombing and shelling of our territory, our cities. The synchronization of shelling with the negotiation process was apparent. I believe that Russia is trying to put pressure in such a simple way. Do not lose time. We do not accept such tactics. There can be fair negotiations when one side does not hit the other side with rocket artillery at the very moment of negotiations,” the head of state said.

He noted that so far, Ukraine doesn’t have the result it would like to achieve.

“Russia has stated its positions. We voiced the counter points - to end the war. We received some signals. When the delegation returns to Kyiv, we will analyze what we heard and then we will decide how to proceed to the second round of negotiations,” Zelensky stressed.
