A reconnaissance drone, which can stay in the stratosphere for up to a year, has been successfully tested in the US state of New Mexico, Report informs via Bild.
The Phasa 35 drone was developed by the British defense company BAE Systems.
The drone reached a height of 20 kilometers. The flight lasted a day, but it is noted that this is not the maximum time for the drone to stay in the stratosphere. According to the creators, it will be able to stay airborne without landing throughout the year thanks to solar batteries.
At an altitude of 20 kilometers, the drone is invisible to radars, which makes it virtually invulnerable to air defense systems.
