US airstrikes kill Iranian proxies in Syria, officials say

The United States conducted airstrikes against the Iran-linked targets in Abu Kamal and Mayadin. 6-to 7 Iranian proxy fighters were killed, according to Fox News, Report informs.

The F-35 strikes hit two buildings, used as a command headquarters and as a training and weapons storage facility, according to Reuters. The incident follows the US strikes against Iran-linked facilities in Syria earlier on Wednesday.

The new round of airstrikes is said to be the latest measure of retaliation executed by the US command in response to the 48 attacks against American forces in Iraq and Syria. “This precision self-defense strike is a response to a series of attacks against US personnel in Iraq and Syria by IRGC (Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) affiliates,” stated Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
