UN Secretary-General condemns Hamas attack on Israel

United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned the Hamas attack on Israel, said Stéphane Dujarric, the Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, Report informs.

"The UN Secretary-General strongly condemns Hamas attacks on Israeli towns near the Gaza Strip and central Israel, including the firing of thousands of rockets towards Israeli populated areas," Dujarric said.

He noted that Guterres called on the parties to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict to exercise maximum restraint.

According to Guterres, diplomatic efforts are needed to prevent further aggravation around Israel.
