Two Russians have been jailed in Saudi Arabia for fraudulent arrangements for the Hajj, said Hizbullah Asuev, Report informs via TASS.
He noted that one of the Russian citizens was detained between Jeddah and Mecca and sentenced to one year and 10 months in prison. The second is in custody, his fate is currently unknown.
Those arrested are said to have organized the illegal Hajj and made fake badges.
Asuev added that it is necessary to get a special visa to participate in the visit.
In total, between 500,000 and 700,000 illegal pilgrims arrived in Saudi Arabia in 2024.
