Two men who took part in the Madrid Half Marathon on April 6 have died due to heart-related complications, Report informs via Eldiario.es.
One of the victims was 35 years old and suffered a heart attack. Despite being rushed to the hospital, doctors were unable to save his life. The second participant, aged 20, also received emergency medical attention but passed away at the hospital.
This year’s half marathon drew around 27,000 participants. Medical assistance was provided to approximately 50 runners during the event.
The Madrid Half Marathon has been held for 24 years. With these recent cases, the total number of participant deaths recorded during the event now stands at four — the previous fatalities occurred in 2005 and 2010.
