Six earthquakes strike Istanbul - UPDATED

Six consecutive earthquakes of varying magnitudes have struck Istanbul, in the Sea of Marmara region. The reported magnitudes were 3.9, 4.4, 4.5, 4.9, and 6.2.

Report informs via TASS that Türkiye’s Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said the tremors were also felt in neighboring provinces. So far, there have been no reports of casualties or damage.

In a social media post, Türkiye’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) urged citizens to stay away from potentially dangerous structures.

A strong earthquake occurred at about 12:50 local time in Istanbul, Report informs via Turkish media.

"In the Sea of ​​Marmara, several dozen kilometers from Istanbul, two earthquakes occurred with a short time interval. The magnitudes of these seismic events were 3.9 and 6.2," the media noted.
