Türkiye not to allow terrorists to take advantage of instability in Syria, says FM

Türkiye is closely monitoring developments in Syria and will not allow terrorists to take advantage of instability, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said, Report informs.

Fidan made this statement during a joint press conference with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

"Recent events in Syria highlight the importance of Damascus finding a compromise with its people and legitimate opposition. At this phase, it would not be correct to associate the situation solely with foreign intervention. We are closely monitoring the situation in the region, and our institutions are working in coordination to prevent terrorists from taking advantage of instability. Syria has been facing these problems for 13 years, but the government hasn't moved closer to a political solution," Fidan noted.

The minister emphasized that Türkiye and Iran's joint work on the Syrian issue plays an important role in ensuring stability in the region.

Fidan further stated that initiatives planned within the framework of the Astana process, aimed at a political solution to the Syrian conflict, are expected to be implemented in the near future.
